“If you’re not learning, you’re dying.”
Albert Einstein
During this time in quarantine, I’ve found myself thinking a lot about this quote. It has been easy to feel stuck both literally (I’m still working on finding a flight home from Costa Rica) and figuratively. The thing that keeps me moving forward is learning. Increasing your skill set is one of the most important things you can do, both as a leader and an employee. And what better time to learn than right now? I have 3 simple tips for leaders to level-up.
Here are three simple things you can do to Level-Up during this quarantine:
1. Take Online Classes
My favorite site for online learning is Udemy.com. They have accredited classes on everything from C++ to League of Legends to yoga, so it’s basically a one-stop-shop for leveling up in both your business and personal life.
2. Watch YouTube Tutorials
If you don’t have the coin to pay for online courses right now, there’s plenty of free content on YouTube that can be equally informative. You may have to do a little more legwork to determine the content’s value and the teacher’s reputation, but it’s like anything else in life: you gotta do your research.
3. Find a Mentor
Have a hero in the business? Now is a great time to ask them for advice. Try reaching out to someone whose work you admire through a direct message via LinkedIn or Instagram. Many of us are more than happy to give advice, and some of us have more time on our hands than usual. Sure, 99% of folks may not reply, but it never hurts to ask. They may invite you to an online Zoom class, or you could end up with the mentor of your dreams. Either way, you’ve got to play the game to find out! You can reach me at LinkedIn and Instagram. I would love to hear from you.
